I feel like I say this every week, but there are really some amazing releases this week that deserve some love! Like I introduced on last week’s post, I’m planning to highlight five songs each week that are my favorite that I want to give a little extra love to. Enjoy!

Noteworthy EP & Album releases (lots of them):

Better Community Oblivion Center – Better Community Oblivion Center (Conor Oberst & Phoebe Bridgers)
Check Two – Bronze Radio Return
Almost Free – FIDLAR
Inner Monologue, Pt. 1 – Julia Michaels
Feral Roots –
Rival Sons
All Inclusive Romantic Getaway – Spendtime Palace
Clear – Summer Walker
King Of The Dudes – Sunflower Bean
Harmony Hall/2021 – Vampire Weekend

In order of release date:

“Heave Ho” – Ben Howard
Release Date – 1/18/2019

“Daddy Issues” – Pip Blom
Release Date – 1/21/2019

“Uncomfortably Numb” – American Football ft. Hayley Williams
Release Date – 1/22/2019

“All I Want” – Broken Social Scene
Release Date – 1/22/2019

“Exits” – Foals
Release Date – 1/22/2019

“It’s All About You” – MUNYA
Release Date – 1/22/2019

“In Your Head” – Nilüfer Yanya
Release Date – 1/22/2019

“Tarantula” (Music Inspired By the Film Roma) – Beck
Release Date – 1/23/2019

“Watch You Sleep.” – Girl In Red
Release Date – 1/23/2019

“Fuck The Rain” – Ryan Adams
Release Date – 1/23/2019

“Exception To The Rule” – Better Oblivion Community Center
Release Date – 1/24/2019

It was so exciting when Phoebe was teasing an album announcement out of the blue and it turned out to be a collaboration with Conor Oberst. They are also teasing a tour and I really hope it happens because this entire album is really fantastic. I have only listened to this album in full once but this is the song that stood out to me.

“Manic Pixie Dream” – Chloe Lilac
Release Date – 1/24/2019

“Swan Song” – Dua Lipa
Release Date – 1/24/2019

“Moderation” – Florence & The Machine
Release Date – 1/24/2019

“Hazy Shade of Winter” – Gerard Way, Ray Toro
Release Date – 1/24/2019

“My Favorite Fish” – Gus Dapperton
Release Date – 1/24/2019

“What A Time” – Julia Michaels, Niall Horan
Release Date – 1/24/2019

“Pressure To Party” – Julia Jacklin
Release Date – 1/24/2019

The pressure to feel like nothing bothers you after a situation that REALLY pisses you off is so relatable and I love that this is the song’s sentiment. We should allow ourselves to process emotions and sit at home and cry if that’s necessary. I love it.

“Higher States” – Sundara Karma
Release Date – 1/24/2019

“Harmony Hall” – Vampire Weekend
Release Date – 1/24/2019

I don’t think there will ever be a time when a Vampire Weekend song ISN’T one of my favorite releases. VW sang this song at their Lollapalooza after show and I knew I had recognized it immediately after I heard the release. I love that it’s still a new sound for them but sounds so quintessentially on brand. Also Danielle Haim sings backup vocals on the chorus. Side note: how eerily similar is the album artwork is for this song vs. Sundara Karma’s above?! I have so many questions.

“No Good” – Young & Sick
Release Date – 1/24/2019

“I Know” – Alex Siegel
Release Date – 1/25/2019

“Animal” – Aurora
Release Date – 1/25/2019

“Wait” – Billy Lemos, Still Woozy, Blake Saint David
Release Date – 1/25/2019

“There Will Be Another” – Bronze Radio Return
Release Date – 1/25/2019

“Falling Apart” – Broods
Release Date – 1/25/2019

“Flake” – FIDLAR
Release Date – 1/25/2019

“I Know” (Rise Recording) – King Princess, Fiona Apple
Release Date – 1/25/2019

This cover of Fiona Apple’s 1999 song by King Princess is amazing. I loved that Fiona is just a sound of support on this version (see what she said about the recording process here) and everything King Princess releases continues to be a pleasant surprise. She’s so young but so wise for her age.

“You Don’t Know Me” – Peter Manos
Release Date – 1/25/2019

“Too Bad” – Rival Sons
Release Date – 1/25/2019

“Not Supposed To” – Shae Jacobs
Release Date – 1/25/2019

“S.O.S.” – Spazz Cardigan
Release Date – 1/25/2019

I’ve been loving everything Spazz Cardigan releases, but this is definitely my favorite he’s released so far. It’s really hard to change and most of the time, your biggest enemy is yourself.

“Cat And Jones” – Spendtime Palace
Release Date – 1/25/2019

“Riot” – Summer Walker
Release Date – 1/25/2019

“King Of The Dudes” – Sunflower Bean
Release Date – 1/25/2019
