Lollapalooza 2019 kicks off tomorrow! I was racking my brain earlier this week to figure out some sort of fun Lolla-based post I could share before I head to the festival for four days and finally thought of something interesting.
While there are artists on the lineup that have far more name recognition than others (i.e. artists like Ariana Grande, Twenty One Pilots and Childish Gambino), I was trying to figure out who attendees were actually dying to see most. While I unfortunately can’t use my singular power to conduct a survey for every single person who is going to walk into Grant Park this weekend, I decided to ask my followers on Twitter and Instagram who they were most excited to see. I also decided to go the Lollapalooza thread on Reddit – home to some of the biggest Lolla fans. They did not disappoint!
My first posts went up on Monday morning and as of Tuesday early evening, I have 50 responses. I asked for people to give me their top 3, but a handful of people gave 1 – so the data isn’t complete at 150 listings (rather 144), but hey – this was pretty successful regardless! And super insightful.
I also asked Reddit users to provide their age and gender identity for more context but only 33/50 people gave me that information – which is 66% – again, not bad!
Because I love a good breakdown, I’m including the 50 responses below. Following that is a graph of the artists who got the most answers. They were a little surprising but overall not much.

This was surprising! My top 3 (Mitski, Janelle Monae, Childish Gambino) weren’t represented super well, but maybe next time I’ll do this again and get data more in advance.
