Kid Bloom Illuminates a Fresh Sound on New EP ‘Inner Light Part 1’

Prepare for a musical journey as Kid Bloom, the brainchild of the talented multi-instrumentalist Lennon Kloser, unveils his latest creation, Inner Light Part 1. Following the tease of the acoustic pop gem “Dead Butterflies,” the anticipation for this EP has been steadily building, promising a sonic adventure like no other.

Kloser, based in the vibrant music scene of Los Angeles, has been steadily gaining momentum since his 2017 debut, A Long Kiss Goodbye. With each release, including the well-received Shaky Knees EP in 2023, Kid Bloom has demonstrated a commitment to growth and exploration that sets him apart in the music landscape.

The EP kicks off with “More Life,” a masterful slow-burner that serves as a powerful musical pep talk. “Dead Butterflies” follows suit, enchanting listeners with its groovy pop vibes and intricate acoustic guitar work. The track delves into the complexities of self-pity in relationships, capturing the visceral emotions that stir within.

A true standout, “That’s What Happens” places a spotlight on Kloser’s vocals, fueled by a sentiment of radical acceptance. The introspective lyrics provide a window into the artist’s personal journey, making for a deeply resonant and relatable experience.

Reflecting on the comparison between the new EP and Shaky Knees, Kloser shares, “It’s all part of a journey, a continual blossoming. Along this path, I’ve discovered that sometimes, cohesion and fitting everything together can take a backseat when undergoing change. The newer songs embrace introspection and immediacy, peeling away the veil without too much embellishment.”

While Shaky Knees drew inspiration from artists like Frank Ocean and Hall and Oates, featuring tracks like “Feel It” and the title track, Kloser found himself drawn to more unconventional sounds in the creation of Inner Light Part 1. In an intentional departure from his previous work, he explains, “I deliberately ventured into ‘weird stuff’ during the sessions, aiming to sound completely different from what I’ve done before. This time, I’m delving deep within, exploring and questioning the essence of the sound I am seeking.”

As the EP hits the airwaves, Kid Bloom continues on his largest North American tour to date, promising an unforgettable live experience. Fans will have the chance to witness the emotional depth and truth embedded in these new tracks, as Kloser openly shares his vulnerability and excitement on stage.

In essence, Inner Light Part 1 is not just an EP; it’s a testament to Kid Bloom’s musical exploration and unwavering commitment to self-discovery. With its diverse sounds, authentic lyricism, and engaging melodies, this release invites listeners to join Kloser on a thrilling journey of introspection and innovation. Get ready to be captivated by the sonic brilliance of Kid Bloom’s evolving musical narrative.
