Collaborating can go one of two ways: it can either be a harmonious blend of styles and influences, or it can be chaos—two strong-willed people who are unwilling to compromise. Thankfully, for producer and artist Will Sass, it’s been going pretty well, especially on his new track “Fairweather Friends,” which was co-written with Scottish singer and songwriter Nina Nesbitt.
Sass is no stranger to teaming up with strong pop voices. The New York-based producer, who previously made the songs “Into the Blue,” with British singer-songwriter and producer Kamille and “Alicia” with DJ, producer and singer Alvin Risk. The producer’s most recent collaboration was released Dec. 12.
The producer partnered with Nesbitt for the track. Nesbitt released her fourth album, Mountain Music, earlier this year.
In the song, Nesbitt sings a farewell to the titular fairweather friends, who aren’t dependable and fade away when things get hard.
“You loved me on the good days, and ran away when things got heavy,” Nesbitt sings in the song’s opening line.
Sass made a solid choice in choosing to pair with Nesbitt, her sweet, soft and breathy voice pairs well to Sass’ energetic and crisp production.
“Fairweather Friends” is now available on all streaming platforms.
