SG Lewis Taps Shygirl for Shimmering Summer Banger “Sugar”

Today, London-born, LA-based producer SG Lewis returns with “Sugar,” a glossy, dancefloor-ready collaboration with Shygirl and the first taste of his upcoming third album Anemoia, set for release September 5 on his own label, Forever Days.

Known for his work with artists like Tove Lo, Robyn, Dua Lipa, and more, as well as his euphoric remix of the Bee Gees’ “More Than a Woman,” Lewis brings his signature shimmering production to the forefront. Shygirl’s magnetic vocals cut through the beat immediately, dancing over a bouncing, club-ready groove with an infectious hook: “I never needed much but I know now, what I finally love is so wild.” It’s a perfect summer track, tailor-made for sticky, late-night dance floors or solo headphone struts through the heat.

As a longtime SG Lewis fan who’s seen him live from Brooklyn to Atlanta, this release feels like a natural next step. “Sugar” is light, fun, and flirty but carries a romantic weight, reflecting the desire to make a moment last forever, a theme SG highlighted when announcing Anemoia on June 19. The album’s title comes from the word anemoia, meaning nostalgia for a time or place one has never known.

With nods to ’70s New York, ’90s Ibiza, and the acid house explosion,  Anemoia promises to be a fantasy soundtrack for the dance floors of the past and the memories we’re creating now. “Sugar” is a sparkling addition to SG Lewis’s growing oeuvre of dance music and feels perfectly suited for the end-of-summer celebrations ahead.

“Sugar” is out now.
