In case you missed it – last Sunday I introduced a new series on my blog where I highlight some new music that I’ve been digging over the previous week. There’s no real set up to this, it just depends on the amount of music that I’ve been digging. Enjoy!
Side note: This was originally going to be music that was released over the previous week (so this would have been November 19 through the 26) but that’s too limiting so I’m just doing it however I feel like.
In order of release date:
1. Wild Child – “Think It Over”
Release Date: November 14, 2017
I’ve talked about Wild Child before on this blog – and they’ve sort of fallen off of my radar within the last few months. But I really love their new single and I think they have arrived at a newer sound without losing what makes them unique. Their new album drops in February of 2018.
2. Tim Atlas – “Unwind”
Release Date: November 16, 2017
After some research I’ve realized that Tim Atlas was once a contestant on The Voice! Cool! It’s great to see artists come out of that show with some success, since so many of them show so much promise but don’t really make it anywhere (he didn’t make it super far on the show). He actually had an EP released in 2013 – he appeared on the show in 2015.
3. Aquilo – “Who Are You”
Release Date: November 17, 2017
I’ve been listening to Aquilo casually for awhile and I honestly always forget how much I enjoy their music every time I hear a new song. Their debut album, Silhouettes, came out earlier this year (and I will admit that I have not heard the entire thing yet), but their new EP just recently came out.
4. Baum – “Effortless”
Release Date: November 17, 2017
I’ve really loved Baum since I first heard her song a few months ago titled “First” and then her second and third releases made me love her even more. You can read my Ones to Watch about her here. I am heavily invested in her soulful style of music and this song is particularly heartbreaking – listening to her singing about being cheated on hurts me to my core! But I thing the production on this song is so so so cool.
5. Trella – “This Year”
Release Date: November 24, 2017
I’m not really one to be too interested in Christmas music – I know that makes me sound like the Grinch or something – but I actually find this song to be a unique take on love and the holidays – she’s singing about being single and happy about it for the holidays! How refreshing!
6. – Jadu Heart, Mura Masa – “U Never Call Me”
Release Date: November 24, 2017
Again, here I am writing about EDM music when I really have no background knowledge on this genre of music – but I know what I like and I like this song. It seems a little more reserved and “chill” compared to other songs I’ve heard by Mura Masa and I’m really digging the vibe.
7. Carlie Hanson – “Only One”
Release Date: November 24, 2017
From the minimal amount of information I have found about Carlie Hanson – I think she is only 17-years-old and from Australia. She’s only released two songs thus far and the first track, “Why Did You Lie?” has hit 444,000 streams on Spotify. I hear a lot of Hailee Steinfeld in her sound and I think she’s going to be one to watch.
8. Noah Cyrus ft. One Bit – “My Way”
Release Date: November 24, 2017
Honestly, I haven’t been to into the singles that Noah Cyrus has released since the first single, “Make Me” was released. I thought the singles following were a little boring and uninspired. I think the new one, “My Way” is a song that could have been written and performed by Icona Pop or Zara Larrson and I think it’s a fun, upbeat pop song that I can definitely see being played on the radio.
9. Dahlia Sleeps – “Rise”
Release Date: November 24, 2017
We know I’m a sucker for a band with a female singer – and Dahlia Sleeps fits the bill perfectly. I hear a lot of contemporary production on this song mixed with airy, dreamlike vocals and will be checking out the rest of the band’s music for sure.
10. Lost Frequencies ft. Zonderling – “Crazy”
Release Date: November 24, 2017
First off, I feel really out of the loop that I have never heard of the artist “Lost Frequencies” because he has a LOT of streams on Spotify – nearly 1 billion across all of the songs. I think if my understanding is correct, both of these artists are DJs and they collaborated for this song – I’m not entirely sure who is singing, but I like the song a lot!
Thanks for reading – I hope you enjoy these tunes as much as I do! Be sure to stay tuned for another post next Sunday highlighting new music. You can subscribe to my blog by entering your email in on the right and you will be notified every time I post something new.
