They’re baaack! The ever-so-popular Fleet Foxes are here and ready to share a new track with the world, “A Sky Like I’ve Never Seen.”
If you know anything about Fleet Foxes, you know frontman Robin Pecknold pours his all into creating these anthems, but this time he decided to share the spotlight with Brazilian musician Tim Bernardes. With hazy and soft lyrics combined with floaty and rhythmic folk-esque beats, “A Sky Like I’ve Never Seen” makes a whimsical ballad ideal for a walk in the woods or while reminiscing on life.
This new melody was specifically personalized for Amazon Studio’s new documentary, Wildcat, a story about a young veteran’s exposition into the Amazon rainforest. Wildcat will be coming out in theaters on Dec. 21 and globally on Prime Video on Dec. 30. Just last week “A Sky Like I’ve Never Seen” was nominated for a Hollywood Music In Media Award for “Best Original Song (Documentary Film).”
To end, when speaking about the latest piece, Robin Pecknold stated, “I was inspired by how the film employed unconventional means to arrive at something universally moving, and was struck by all the collisions inherent in the film’s conceit — between species, between hemispheres, between individuals, between the psychological and the natural. In hotel rooms and in borrowed studios, on time stolen from a world tour, I put this song together. It was an honor to be asked to make a song that could serve as an end-cap to this unique and affecting story and to collaborate with Tim again.”
In addition to this news, Fleet Foxes will release Wading in Waist-High Water: The Lyrics of Fleet Foxes on November 15. The book contains Pecknold’s complete lyrics from 55 songs.
